Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 280 Hopewell Road, North with the Rev. James Jeffcoat officiating.
She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church at an early age. She moved to New York in the early 1950's where she worked for Knit Goods Mills for many years, until retirement. She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Huffman Dixon Clifton and sister, Lillian Taylor.
She is survived by a loving son, Deacon Melvin L. (Dorothy) Brannum of Orangeburg; three grandchildren, Melba Renee Mells of Charlotte, NC, Ericka Dee Andrea (Staff Sgt. Terrence) Holmes of Enterprise, AL and Melvin L. Brannum, II of Charlotte, NC; one great granddaughter, Terricka Imani Holmes of Orangeburg; one great grandson, Terrence Emari 'TJ' Holmes of Orangeburg; one sister, Elouise Thompson of Brooklyn, NY; a special devoted niece, Beverly Thompson of Brooklyn, NY, who took excellent care of her, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, caretakers and friends.
Viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2010 at W.B. Crumel Funeral Home of North. Friends may call at the residence of her son, Deacon Melvin L. (Dorothy) Brannum, 785 Coleman Ave., Orangeburg and at the funeral home.
