Mrs. Nyna Dixon Blakemore of this city died at State Hospital No. 4 at Farmington, Mo., early last Saturday morning after an illness of several weeks due, hospital authorities stated, to a brain tumor, immediate cause of her death being a cerebral hemorrhage. She was 64 years old and had been a resident of Caruthersville for the past 29 years.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in this city, conducted by the Rev. Elmer Peal at the Methodist church, and interment was in Little Prairie cemetery.
Mrs. Blakemore was born in St. Louis April 5, 1879, and she was married to Sam J. Blakemore, identified with the local telephone system for many years, in July of 1910. Mr. Blakemore preceded her in death, his death occurring in May, 1926. They had no children.
Immediate survivors are a sister and certain nieces and nephews living in St. Louis. The sister, Mrs. Esther Bohler, and a niece Mrs. Esther Benson, came here for the funeral Sunday, as did Elmo Blakemore, nephew of her deceased husband, citizen of Kennett. Other relatives are Wilbert Eilenberger and Robert Bohler, nephews, and Miss Margaret Bohler, a niece, all of St. Louis.
Mrs. Blakemore had numerous staunch friends in Caruthersville, where she was employed after her husband died both as a saleslady and a practical nurse from time to time.
