Shelby - Mr. William Raymon Daxon, 83, of 910 Wyke Road, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Linzie and martha Wright Dixon. He was a retired industrial trouble shooter with Electric Motor Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the D.A.V. and V.F.W. He was a World war II Navy veteran, serving aboard LST 284 as coxswain.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Arson Dixon, and two sisters, Kathleen Dixon and Alma Dixon Kale.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel Heavner Dixon, two sons, William "Bill" R Dixon Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Cherryville and Charles L "Chuck" Dixon and his wife, Teresa, of Dallas; a sister, Shirley Williams of Simpsonville, S.C.; three grandchildren, Michael Wray and his wife, Allison, Jeff Whitaker and his wife, Kelly and Jason Whitaker; and two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Wray and Amber McGraw.
A graveside service will be Monday at 8 P.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park, with Rev. tony Tench officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
