SHELBY — Mrs. Dorothy Dixon Allen, 82, died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Lexington Health Care Center.
Mrs. Allen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Enos Labon and Mary Melinda Ross Dixon. She was retired from the textile industry. As a member of Westwood Heights Baptist Church, Mrs. Allen was a strong and dedicated Christian, who loved her church and loved to sing in the choir. She was a wonderful seamstress, an avid reader, cook and baker, as well as an advocate for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eli "Frank" Allen, two sisters, three brothers and a great-grandchild.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Henderson and husband, Stephen, of Thomasville, Frances Earwood and husband, Joe, of Shelby, Kay Cloninger and husband, E. Scott, of Kings Mountain and Barbara Hovis and husband, Heath, of Newport; a sister, Mary Ellen Wilson and husband, Loren C., of Houston; a brother, Enos Dixon and wife, Faye, of Shelby; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
