Mrs. Dorothy McLaughlin Dixon, 84, died Friday evening (February 27, 2015) at her residence following a short illness.
She was born in Lexington, KY but had resided in Waycross most of her life. She was also a member of Deenwood Baptist Church and a homemaker whose hobbies included her love for sewing, crocheting, and shopping.
She was a daughter of the late Luther Thomas McLaughlin and Dorothy Mae Reynolds McLaughlin. She was married to the late Lee L. Dixon; and preceded in death by two children, Linda Lee Dixon and Henry Lee Dixon; a brother, Robert Lee McLaughlin; and two sisters,, Peggy Joyce McLaughlin and Sylvia Elizabeth Martin.
Mrs. Dixon is survived by three daughters, Dianna Aldridge (husband Lacy) of Blackshear, Mona Boan (husband Norman) of Waycross, and Jenny Bates (husband Newton) of Waycross; a son, Mac Dixon (wife Suzanne) of Waycross; ten grandchildren, Joshua Aldridge, Hannah Davis (husband Drew), Dustin Boan (wife Bridget), Zach Boan, Savannah Boan, Tiffany Kirkland (fiancé Chris Bowers), Duncan Kirkland, Leah Dixon, Brad Dixon, and Megan Dixon; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Luther Thomas "Tommy" McLaughlin (wife Sheila) of Rainbow City, AL, Henry S. McLaughlin (wife Lisa) of Waycross, and Jimmy McLaughlin of Bainbridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday (March 2, 2015) at Deenwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday at the church from 1:30 until 3:00 o'clock.
