AUBURN — Marie Elizabeth Dixon Matlock, 95, of Auburn, died May 20, 2011, at a Bowling Green nursing home.
The Bowling Green native was born Feb. 16, 1916. She was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church in Auburn for more than 60 years. She was a daughter of the late Charlie Virgil Dixon and Ada Estelle Smith Dixon and the wife of the late John W. Matlock. She was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Dixon; two sisters, Lucille Carr and Gladys Colen; and three sons, J.W. Matlock Jr., Charles Richard Matlock and James Robert "Bobby" Matlock.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Young Funeral Home, Auburn chapel, with burial in New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the New Friendship Baptist Church Youth Fund.
Survivors include a son, William "Bill" Matlock of Auburn; two daughters, Karen Marie Matlock of Auburn and Barbara M. Scheidt and her husband, Leonard, of Bowling Green; a sister-in-law, Earlene Dixon of Bowling Green; a brother-in-law, Robert Colen of San Francisco; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
