Maine, USA
Death: Aug. 2, 2006

Philanthropist, Sports Team Owner. He was an heir to Pennsylvania's Widener Family who consistantly made Forbes Magazine's list as one of the wealthiest families in the United States. He served as chairman of the board at Widener University. He also served on numerous boards of various foundations that benefited handicapped children in Pennsylvania, Florida and Maine. Dixon was the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers professional basketball team from 1976 to 1981. In 1976 he authorized the signing of Julius (Dr. J) Erving, a star of the ABA's New York Nets.
