Margaret Ditzler Beatty, a longtime first-grade teacher for Richardson schools, died of cancer Wednesday at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She was 65.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Private graveside services will be at Restland Memorial Park.
For more than 25 years, Mrs. Beatty taught first-graders in the Richardson Independent School District. She taught at Northrich, Dobie and Northlake elementary schools before retiring in 1991.
The Tulsa, Okla., native, who moved to Dallas in 1942, was a graduate of Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University. She also received a master's degree from the University of North Texas.
Active in civic affairs, she was a Camp Fire Girls leader for many years and was a member of several organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Delta Delta Delta alumni group and the Pixies Garden Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Ann Beatty of Garland, Carol Beatty of Dallas and Barbara Beatty of Dallas; a brother, Bill Ditzler of Dallas; two sisters, Louise Scott and Jean Berg, both of Richardson; stepmother, Mary Ditzler of Dallas; and a stepbrother, Dick Dillenbeck of Summit, N.J.
Memorials may be made to Highland Park Presbyterian.
