Raymond Arnold Disney was the older brother of entertainment legend Walter Elias Disney. He was the uncle of Charles Elias Disney and Daniel H. Disney.
Raymond owned his own very successful insurance business for many years on North Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles, California. He handled most of the insurance for his brothers Walt and Roy and for the original Disney Bros. Studio in 1923.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War I. Early in life he was a bank clerk in Kansas City, Missouri at First National Bank, the same bank where his brother Roy worked.
Raymond was a very kind and generous gentleman! He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Raymond loved cats and dogs and would always help strays find homes that seemed to find their way to his door!
He was quite active in the Masonic Lodge and the Los Angeles, CA Al Malaikah Shrine Temple A. A. O. N. M. S. activities across many years. Ray bequeathed a very considerable amount of his large estate to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Los Angeles and the Shriner's Childrens Burn Hospital in Galveston, Texas. He was 98 when he passed from this life at his home in Santa Monica, California.
