Son of Paul Dinger and Magdalena Mueller Dinger. From Franzfeld, Hungary (this town is now located in Serbia, east of Belgrade, near Mramorak). Married Magdalena Mayer in Hungary. Arrived in America 3 May 1903 on the ship "Necker" (Breman, Germany to Baltimore, Maryland, with his brother and sister-in-laws Karl and Margaret Harich); going to join brother-in-law Fred Mayer in Mansfield, Ohio (naturalization records give date of arrival in Baltimore to be 20 April 1903). Worked at various Mansfield industries, for the last 13 years of his life was a farmer in Madison Township, east of Mansfield (reportedly on McElroy Road, between Ashland Road and Grace Street).
Obituary in the Mansfield Journal of Mon. 12 Jan. 1925, pg. 2 -- Martin Dinger, Sr., died Saturday (10 Jan. 1925) night at 11:30 o'clock at his home 2 1/2 miles east of the city, following an illness of several years. He had lived east of the city 13 years. Mr. Dinger was born in Hungary, August 11, 1868. He is survived by his wife, five sons, Michael, Martin, Jr., Joseph, Fred, and Carl, four daughters, Mrs. Andrew Kissel, Mrs. Julius Fischer, Catherine and Elizabeth Dinger at home and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Believers in Christ church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
