John Edward Dimmitt was born on June 24, 1884 in Uniontown, Kentucky to John Henry Dimmitt and Florence D. (Wilson) Dimmitt. He was the second born of seven children, Sadie Lee (Dimmitt) Cissell, Henry Clinton Dimmitt Sr., Aaron W. Dimmitt, George Roy Dimmitt, William W. Dimmitt, and Laura May Dimmitt. He was an employee at the Indianapolis Traction Company in 1917 and worked for the City of Indianapolis Engineering Department in 1942. He was married to Louise Dimmitt and had one child, Eulah. Uncle Eddie departed this life on July 10, 1947 at the age of 53 and was laid to eternal rest in New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis.
