Antonia (Dillinger) Julian, 100, died peacefully in the presence of family Tuesday (Nov. 25, 2008) at the Heritage Nursing Home in Bridgeport. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was born Oct. 24, 1908, in Zagorje, Austria (now a part of Slovenia), the daughter of Franz and Mitzi Sitter Dillinger. At age 7, in 1914, she with her mother and two siblings emigrated to America to meet their father after traveling through war-torn Europe. She would recall with vivid memory the experience of coming through Ellis Island. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Rocco Julian, a sister Anna (Dillinger) Graham; two brothers, Wilhelm and Ferdinand Dillinger; and a beloved son-in-law, James A. Pollutro Sr. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Pollutro of Bridgeport: a son, Norman Julian of Star City; a grandson and spouse, James and Julie Pollutro Jr. of Gore, Va.: a grandaughter and spouse, Tressa and Ray Shaw of Bridgeport; and five great-grandchildren, Marissa, Kirsten, Anthony James, Isaiah and Jordan Pollutro; and two sisters-in-law, Angie Julian and Laura Pelligrin both of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews. Antonia, known as Toni, was fond of children, flowers and nature and was esteemed as the family cook. She was a selfless, kind and gentle soul with a ready smile for everyone. She dedicated much of her adult life to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Clarksburg. At the request of the deceased, only private funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite ministry or charity. The family of Ms. Julian has entrusted arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 215 E. Main Street, Bridgeport.
