Alene Dillard, 91, of Ridgway, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.

Alene was born in Golconda on June 22, 1918, to the late John O. and Mary Addie (Brown) Lamb. She had moved to Ridgway as a Red Cross worker during the flood of 1937. Alene will be remembered by many in Gallatin and surrounding counties from her many years of employment as bookkeeper/receptionist at Jones Farm Store and at Tri-County Fertilizer.

Alene was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene "Nick" Dillard; a great-grandson, Benjamin Dillard of Brentwood, Tenn.; one brother, Earl Lamb; and seven sisters, Margaret Lamb, Audrey Jacobs, Geneva Reid, Claudine Bocock, Loree Kuehne, Leota Sasser, and Kathryn "Nell" Lamb.

Survivors include two sons, Alan Keith (Stephanie) of Jonesboro and Gary (Sue) of Bowling Green, Ky.; four grandchildren, Meagan Dillard and Sarah Dillard of Carbondale, Michele Boling (Mark) of Bowling Green, Ky., and Bradley (Jennifer) Dillard of Brentwood, Tenn.; three great-grandsons, Bradley and Chris Boling of Bowling Green and Samuel Dillard of Brentwood; and two sisters-in-law, Penny Castle of Galatia and Helen Dillard of Eldorado, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alene was a devoted member of First Baptist Church, Ridgway, where she served many years as the teacher of a Women's Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be at Vickery Funeral Chapel, Ridgway, from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010. The funeral will be at the Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Bro. Rob Gallion of First Baptist Church, Ridgway is officiating. Interment will be at Jackson Cemetery. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial contributions to First Baptist Church, Ridgway, or the Baptist Children's Home, Carmi.
