Mrs. Kate Diggs Summerford, 101, died at noon Sunday at the home of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Fred L. Summerford of Crutchfield Lane.
Funeral services are planned at 10 AM Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles O. Dinkins, pastor of First Baptist Church in Mayfield, officiating. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery. Named pallbearers are James Hall, Gary Steele, Kenneth Lowry, Ray Perry, Loren McClung and Dewey Owen.
The former Kate Emily Diggs was born Nov. 16, 1878, in Henry County, a daughter of the late N.H. Diggs and Mary Savannah Owen Diggs. She married Hiram Dudley Summerford in 1898, who preceded her in death Feb. 14, 1946. She was a homemaker and member of Gum Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law and one grandchild, Mrs. Charles (Joy Cathryn) McCutcheon of Paris.
Her son, Fred Summerford, died Aug. 18, 1978.
