On April 18, 1905, he was married to Grace Holmes in Ottumwa, Iowa. She died prematurely on June 29, 1906. To this union one son was born.
Mr. Dieterich returned to Missouri in 1907, and resided on a farm north of Wyaconda. On February 14, 1914, he was married to Mary Gibbs. To this union one daughter was born. They moved into Wyaconda in 1918 and Mr. Dieterich worked as a telegraph operator for Service Pipe Line Company until his retirement in 1946. Mary Gibbs Dieterich preceded him in death on October 20, 1954.
Mr. Dieterich was active in community affairs serving on the school board and in city offices in Wyaconda. He was also active in the Masonic Lodge in Wyaconda and was a lifetime member by virtue of his membership for over 50 years.
He was a member of the Methodist Church in Wyaconda.
On December 9, 1958, he was married to Blanche Castle. They lived alternately in Wyaconda and Fairfield, Iowa, until her death on October 30, 1969.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry Dieterich and John Dieterich and one infant sister.
He is survived by two children, Romaine Dieterich of Marceline, Missouri and Elizabeth Sebastain of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nephew, Elsworth Yeager of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who he raised in his home as a son; grandchildren, Rex Sebastian of Troy, Ohio, tom Dieterich of New Haven, Connecticut, Sheila Yeager, Chicago, Illinois, and Rod Yeager, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and two great-grandchildren, Leann and Joel Sebastian.
Funeral services were held in the Gerth & Baskett Chapel, Wyaconda, Missouri on Wednesday, April 3, 1974. The Rev. Hubert Lowes officiated. Burial was in Wyaconda Cemetery.
