Clifton ferguson Didlake was born in Clark Co., Kentucky, s/o Edmond H. Didlake and Mildred Woodford. At age 18 he entered the Confederate army as a member of the 1st Kentucky Battalion Mounted Rifles at Prestonsburg, Kentucky as a Sargent, 21 October 1862. While in Tennessee, after the battle of Chickamauga. he was captured and remained a prisoner at Fort Delaware until June, 1865.
