ROUND ROCK, Texas Catherine Dickens was born in Franklin, April 8, 1939, and passed away on Jan. 24, 2008. She left this world as quietly as she entered it. Catherine was a lifetime resident of Franklin and took great pride in that fact. Catherine spent her last months convalescing in Texas, with family, because of a fall. She spent those months convincing every Texan around her that nothing compares to Red Sox baseball and Patriot football. She did her best to convert the un-believers. By worldly standards, Catherine may not be remembered as having achieved lofty goals, but by her friends and family, she will be missed. She was a member of the Emblem Club and the Democratic Town Committee. Catherine was a graduate of Franklin High Schools class of 1956. She retired from Wrentham State School in 2001. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Isabella Dickens. She is survived by her sister, Joan Gunn and her husband, Peter, of Round Rock, Texas; her brother, Jack Dickens and his wife, Joni, of Naples, Fla.; and her brother, Walter Dickens of Ft. Meyers, Fla. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will miss her sly sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to the American Heart Association. The family wishes to send a special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and therapists who worked to make the last few months more tolerable.
