Leo Dick, 88, of Longmont, passed away March 2, 2010, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Inurnment will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church Columbarium.
He was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Padroni, to Samuel and Elizabeth (Roah) Dick. He grew up on the family farm.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 during World War II and was honor ably discharged as a Radioman Second Class.
Leo married Virginia Reitz in 1944 in St. Francis, Kan.
He lived in Sterling, Denver and Berthoud before moving to Longmont in 1995. Leo worked for the railroad for five years, was a plaster contractor for five years and then worked for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling as a plant mechanic for 25 years, retiring in 1987 at the age of 66. Leo was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Longmont and Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling, where he held every office including president and worked with the confimiants. Leo also worked with Bethel, a concentrated Bible study, for two years. He was a very loving and kind husband and will be remembered as a wonderful father. Leo enjoyed painting and being with his grandson.
Leo is survived by his wife, Virginia; a daughter, Judy Mildenberger and husband Ken, of Loveland, and grand son, Casey Mildenberger and wife Dena, of Longmont.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Ernie and Art Dick; one sister, Clara Shade; a daughter, Sharon Dick Melgares and a granddaughter, Ashley Mildenberger.
In lieu of flowers, memori al contributions are request ed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Leo Dick Memorial Fund and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
