Alvin David Dick passed away peacefully on the morning of January 2, 2011 with his family by his side. He will be remembered with great fondness by his family and friends for his generosity, love of life, and kindness of spirit.
Alvin was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 25, 1928 to parents Herman and Betty Dick (nee Davis). When he was a teenager his family moved to Los Angeles, where he graduated from Beverly Hills High. He served with distinction in the Korean War while stationed in Germany.
Starting with nothing more than an indefatigable will to succeed and a desire to provide for his family, he established a homebuilding concern, US Condominium Corp., which prospered for nearly four decades. Alvin built nearly two thousand homes in the Los Angeles area and received numerous awards for his architecture and design.
Alvin was well known for his great generosity and direct involvement with charities. At the height of his professional and financial success, he was a board member of the Guardians and the Monty Hall Statesman Club.
Beloved father of Amanda Lovejoy, Robert Davis, Anna Blume, and Steven Davis, and beloved grandfather of Louis Davis, he will be missed dearly by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Funeral Services will be held at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, on January 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
