Antonio DiMaggio June 26, 1934 - June 28, 2009 NORWICH, CT
- Antonio "Tony" DiMaggio, 75, of Yantic Ln., Norwich, died Sunday at Backus Hospital in Norwich. Born in Tusa Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Antonino and Rosaria (Perrone) DiMaggio. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a steamfitter-welder for Local #218 of Hartford. He was a member of the Italian Herritage Society, an avid Red Sox Fan, and enjoyed his special times spent with his family and friends, and driving his red Mercedes. Surviving are his six children and their spouses; Beth McColl and her husband Joseph Hala, Christine and Kenneth Singer, Ann DiMaggio, Anthony and Pamela DiMaggio, Joseph and Pamela DiMaggio, and Robert DiMaggio. Two sisters, Maria Gustamachio and Anna Amici, and one brother Joseph DiMaggio and his wife Maria. Grandhildren, Sean and Scott McColl, Brian and Timothy Harrison, Kala Micillo, Joshua Singer, Jessica and Joshua Luty, Antonio and Vincenzo DiMaggio, Joseph and Tia DiMaggio, and Nicholas DiMaggio. Also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Eugenio DiMaggio.
Visitation on Wednesday from 10 10 to 11 a.m. at the Labenski Funeral Home, 107 Boswell Ave., Norwich, CT., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church, Norwichtown at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made in his memory to either Hospice of S.E. Ct., 227 Dunahm St., Norwich, CT 06360 or to Stockbridge Sinfonia, Inc., 1045 West St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
