Josephine P. DiMaggio, nee DiGiovanni, age 79, of Chicago Heights for over 65 years, passed away on December 8th at St. James Hospital, Hospice in Chicago Heights. Josephine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. She was a dear friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving sons, Peter [Linda] of Chicago Heights and Joseph [Vera] of St. John, Indiana. She was the proud cherished grandmother of Jenna, John and Joseph, Jr. DiMaggio. Dearest sister of Lucy [Mike] Prisco, Barbara DiGiovanni, Joseph Pepe [Marlene] DiGiovanni and Sam [Linda] DiGiovanni. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John [1996], parents, Joseph and Maria DiGiovanni and sister Carmella Mele. Josephine was an outstanding homemaker, member of St. Rocco Oratory, former member of the Mt. Carmel Club and a former employee of Topps Department Store in Chicago Heights. Visitation was Wednesday, December 10th from 2 to 9 p.m. at Hirsch West End Chapel, 1340 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11th at St. Rocco Oratory at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.
