Joseph DiMaggio died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his home in Harrison Township at the age of 69.
Joseph Anthony DiMaggio was "Joe D" to most, and lived his life as a loving, humble, kind and very generous man both personally and professionally.

He was grateful to God for the blessings bestowed upon him and counted family and friends as his only true assets. Joe's work ethic was impeccable as his professional career was one of Michigan's most honorable and talented master goldsmiths/gemologists.

Joe's sons Anthony and Joseph Jr. learned the trade from their father and went on to establish themselves, too, as highly regarded professional jewelers and gemologists. His only daughter Maria now concentrates on family with her husband and 3 children.

Joe's passion was golf and as a former member at Gowanie and Boulder Lake Country Clubs where he won several club championships and skins and was well known for his steady and consistently good shot making, mirroring the way he lived his life. Joe thrived on the golf course where most of his closest friendships were made and maintained. Joe's golf buddies are a vast number of men from all walks of life who today grieve his loss with immeasurable sadness. Joe was also a proud member of Metro Networking Professionals.

Joe was a loving father, brother and son. Throughout his life, his parents Anthony and Marie were always the focus of his love, time and generosity. His respect for his parents set the standard in the family.
Joe was a spiritual and financial rock who supported the many dreams of others.
Joe was well-known as a man who always seemed to find the good in people and down-played problems, never focusing or commenting on what was wrong.

Near the end of his time here with us, Joe sought out a deeper relationship with Jesus and openly admitted that the Peace and Grace of God was with him all the time he faced his year long battle with his February 12th, 2008 diagnosis of an incurable Stage 4 esophageal cancer.

Joe wanted all of his family and friends that attend his wake and funeral to do so in celebration of the way he lived his life.

God bless his soul, In Jesus' name, Amen.

Joe is the beloved father of Anthony, Joseph Jr. and Maria (Kevin) Hickman.

He is the dear son of Maria (and the late Anthony) DiMaggio.

He is also survived by his sisters Dolores Moceri and Darlene Beltz.

He is the loving grandfather of Dade, Carella, Sierra, Jade, Joey, Kade, Anthony and Colton.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile). The Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Fr. Mike Gawlowski officiating.

Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery following the funeral service.

Donations are appreciated to Hospice of South East Michigan.
