Mary E. "Maria Bella" Bazik
Mary E. "Maria Bella" Bazik, age 89, a 54-year resident of Garrett Hill, passed away Friday, May 20, 2011.
Born April 6, 1922, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Josephine Savati and Harry DiDomenico.
Mrs. Bazik was a family and people person. She loved having her family around her, especially preparing meals for them. She was very kind to all her neighbors, keeping an eye out for them and showing up at their door with a meal when needed. She also enjoyed watching her soap operas.
Mrs. Bazik is a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas of Villanova Church.
She was the wife of the late Michael J. Bazik and mother of the late Mary Lou O'Connor.
Survivors: Mother of Michael J. (Carol), John J. (Anne), Joseph H., Joanne Funkhouser (Dennis), Katherine O'Grady (Tom), Paul S. (Dotty) and Thomas D. (Debbie); 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law John O'Connor.
Service and Visitation: Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 in St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel, Lancaster Ave., Rosemont, where family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.
Interment: Will follow in Westminster Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1 Reed St., Ste. 200, Philadelphia, PA 19147.
Arrangements: Stretch Funeral Home of Havertown.
