Husband's obit:

Funeral services for James E. DeWitt, 65 years of age, were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. Burial was at Brookside Wednesday. The remains were held for the arrival of a son, Pvt. James DeWitt with the U. S. forces in the Alaskan area. Mr. DeWitt died suddenly Thursday after a sudden illness of asthma and pneumonia. Mr. DeWitt was an outstanding citizen in many respects. He joined the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church early in life, later moved his membership to Summersville and then to Pleasant Hill. He was ordained a deacon several years ago and served the church in many capacities. He served as a Sunday School teacher and as superintendent for a number of years. He is survived by his wife and three children: Ross DeWitt, Campbellsville; Robert DeWitt, now stationed at Danville; and James with the U. S. Army in Canada.
