The body of Mrs Mildred McLean Dewey will be laid at rest tomorrow in Bethlehem Chapel of Washington Cathedral beside the body of her husband, Admiral George Dewey.
In accordance with the expressed wish of the 80-year-old widow of the Spanish-American War hero, the funeral services will be extremely simple. They will be conducted by Rt Rev James E Freeman, Bishop of Washington, with only members of the immediate family in attendance.
Mrs Dewey will be the firth woman to be buried in what is regarded as the Westminster Abbey of the United States.
