Edward George junior, son of Edward George Dewey senior of New Hampshire, USA, farmer and Sarah Abbott, was counted aged 7, in a census for Hanover, Grafton, New Hampshire, in the year 1870, living with his grandmother Laura Ardelia (60), his father, Edward George (39), his aunts Laura Augusta (34), Mary Jane (32), Ellen Maria (27), his half- siblings George Albert (14) and Mary Alice (15). His mother Sarah Dewey, nee Abbott had already died in 1865.
In 1880 he is again counted in a census for the same town, aged 16, attending school and living with his grandmother Laura Ardelie Dewey, nee Chedel, his three aunts: Mary Jane (42), Ellen Maria (36) and Laura Augusta (44). His father had already got married for the third time, on February 1876, aged 45, with Ellen Jane Burnham.
On April 9, 1886, he had first got married at Lebanon, New Hampshire, aged 22, barber by occupation, with Lilla Jane Wood of Norwich, Windsor, Vermont, born about 1863, aged 23, single, housekeeper, daughter of Rodolphus Wood (59) of Hartland, Vermont and Cynthia Smith (55) of Norwich, Vermont. This couple had an only child: Harriet Minerva, known as Hattie, born at Hartford, Windsor, Vermont, on March 30, 1887.
On July 10, 1893, Edward remarried aged 30, at Westboro, Worcester, Massachusetts, with Eleanor Morton Clark, aged 23, single, born in 1869, at Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, daughter of George Henry Clark and Elizabeth Wheeler of Ampthill, Bedford, England.
In 1910, he is counted aged 44, barber by trade working on his own account, married, living with his second wife, Eleanor, in a census for Hanover, living at South street. After 12 years of marriage they had no children.
In the year 1916 as to the New Hampshire City Directories, he was living at Hanover, at 17 South College street, Davidson block, barber by trade and his wife Eleanor is listed as a hairdresser, living at the same residence.
In 1930, the couple, two aunts, Laura Augusta (94) and Mary Jane (92), and a half-brother, George Albert (73), were counted for the same said town, residing at 402 and 403 College street.
He died of coronary thrombosis and arterio sclerosis, aged 72 years. Date of interment: May 14, 1936.
