BENNINGTON - Ruth H. Dewey, 98, died Dec. 12, 2016, at home.
She was born March 18, 1918, in Bennington, the daughter of Chelsea and Edith (Lyons) Harrington.

She attended Bennington schools and worked at County National Bank before her marriage to Arthur J. Dewey in 1940.

Mrs. Dewey was a trustee, director or officer of many organizations, including the Bennington Museum, Bennington Historical Society, Putnam Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Park McCullough House Association, Plain Dirt Gardeners, Bennington Garden Club and the Vermont Chapter of Colonial Dames of America, as well as Vermont's vice regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association.

Survivors include three sons, three grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Art, and two siblings Lois Banulis and Homer Harrington.

The private graveside services will be held in Bennington Centre Cemetery.
No calling hours are scheduled.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bennington Museum, in care of Mahar and Son Funeral Home.
