Mrs. ARTHUR J. DEWEY
Mrs. Elizabeth (Dinwiddle) Dewey, 81, widow of Arthur J. Dewey and member of an old and prominent family here, died Sunday at her home at 204 West Main St. following a long illness.
Born in Berwyn, Neb., Nov 2, 1885, she was the daughter of James and Mary (Gleason) Dinwiddle. She had attended schools in Vermont, college in Boston and then taught school in Woodford. She and Mr. Dewey were married in July, 1903.
She had been keenly devoted to the A.J. Dewey Lumber Company, which she and her husband founded. When Mr. Dewey died, she became company treasurer and had continued on in the business operation with her sons, Arthur and Charles.
For more than 50 years, she was a member of the Second Congregational Church and also belonged to the Ladies' Circle of that church, the Hospital Auxillary and the King's Daughters.
Besides her two sons, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Liister of Bennington; one brother, Richard Dinwiddle of Broken Bow, Neb.; one sister, Mrs. Marion Rogers of Union, Colo.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Transfer will be made by Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home to her residence today and friends may call there from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today. Funeral services will be at her home Tuesday at 2 pm. with the Rev. Thomas Steffen, Second Congregational Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
