JESSE B. DEWEY
Jesse Bruce Dewey, 30, who with his family had recently moved into his new home on Jennings Drive in West Bennington, died of injuries suffered in a highway crash on Vt. 9 near Brattleboro Friday night.
Born in Bennington, Aug 22, 1937, he was the son of Seaton and Jessie (Flynn) Dewey. His education had been received in Bennington Elementary School and Bennington High School. He married the former Rena Lomberg in Radcliff, Ky, March 27, 1957.
Mr. Dewey was employed at H.T. Cushman Company in North Bennington days and delivered sack mail between Bennington and Brattleboro nights. At the time of his death he was on his way to Brattleboro with the mail. He was also a substitute mail carrier on R.D. 1.
Always interested in motorcycles and cars, he was owner and conducted a used car lot and junk yard on Beech Street Extension.
He had been a member of the Vermont National Guard for seven years and was a member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department. He had enjoyed outdoor sports, especially deer hunting and fishing.
Survivors are his wife; three children; Pete Ben, 9; Tammy Ann, 7 and Vance Frederick, 4; his mother, Mrs. Jessie F. Dewey of Bennington; his father, Seaton of North Bennington; one uncle, Edward Flynn of Bennington; an aunt, Mrs. Rufus Dwyer of Bennington; also cousins.
The funeral will be held in the First Baptist Church, of which he was a member, Tuesday at 2 pm with the pastor, the Rev. H. Glenn Payne, officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
