|Birth: ||Oct., 1846|
|Death: ||Oct. 26, 1909|
Died, at her home at Cold Stream, Tuesday October 26, after a long illness, Maria, widow of the late Aaron Devinney, aged 64 years.
For the past ten years Mrs Devinney had been a sufferer, but possessed of a strong constitution and great will power, she struggled bravely in the losing fight with disease and death.
The daughter of John and Mary Lauther, of Juniata County, she was one of twelve children born at the family home near Waterloo. She was married at Mifflin to Aaron Devinney, also of Juniata County. The young couple soon after moved to Osceola and from there to Philipsburg. Mr Devinney died twenty years ago, and a son Elmer, also preceded his mother to the grave. She is survived by one son, Guy of Pitcairn, and two daughters, Vera, wife of B F Hoffer, and Miss Alverta, at home. Three brothers and two sisters also survive, Allison, of Chicago, Morrison of Crawfordsville, Ind., John of Junaiata county, Mrs Ellen Stage of Indiana, and Bella V., wife of John Shontz, of this place. Mrs Stage is now suffering from a stroke of paralysis from which she is not expected to recover.
Mrs Devinney was an affectionate mother, devoted to her home and a kind friend and neighbor, whose loss is truly mourned.
