OPELOUSAS - A Celebration of Life Service for Barbara Gayle DeVillier Cason, age 53, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park.
Barbara passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at Opelousas General Health System surrounded by her family. She was born on December 2, 1961, to Leland and Grace Lalonde of Opelousas. Despite being born with Cerebral Palsy, she lived life to the fullest. Barbara, affectionately known as "Sis" to her family, resided in Shreveport for many years. While there, she met and married the love of her life, Vernon Edward "Eddie" Cason. Barbara who was a beautiful soul with a radiant smile, enjoyed family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and especially Zydeco music and festivities.
She is survived by brothers, Lenny DeVillier and wife, Sharon of Opelousas; Dale DeVillier and wife, Charlotte of Lawtell; and Kenny DeVillier and wife, Shelly of Lafayette; her sister, Shelia DeVillier Kidder and husband, Paul of Denham Springs; sisters-in-law, Lisa Goudeau DeVillier and Carolyn Ortego DeVillier; and mother-in-law, Ruth Cason of Shreveport. She is also survived by her aunts, Hazel Phillips, Beatrice Stelly, and Anna Mae Knott; and her uncle, Lawrence "Pete" DeVillier, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Edward "Eddie" Cason; parents, Leland and Grace Lalonde DeVillier; her brothers, Mike, Carl, Leland , Glenn, "Tiny", and David K. DeVillier; and nephew, Lenny Paul DeVillier, Jr.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
