Ruth Conklin, 82, of Mountain Top, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Little Flower Manor, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Hackensack, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Edith (Lozier) Devens. Ruth lived in New Jersey until moving to Mountain Top with her family in 1972. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Mountain Top. She loved to play bingo with her many friends and also enjoyed numerous lottery games. The family would like to thank Ruth's many friends and caregivers who aided her these many years in her battle with cancer. Ruth was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, John Conklin Sr.; her son William Conklin; her brothers, Jack, Paul and Whitfield Devens, and her special friend Hershel Shumway. She is survived by her daughters, Lois Seletyn and her husband, John, Hackettstown, N.J., and Barbara Toole and her husband, Fred, Wilkes-Barre Township; her son John Conklin Jr., Florida; brother Lester Devens and his wife, Barbara, Virginia; her uncle Jack Dempsey, Virginia; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012, at 11 a.m. at McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Interment will immediately follow in Albert Cemetery, Mountain Top. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
