Charles P. "Chuck" Deutsch a longtime resident of West Chicago.
Charles P. "Chuck" Deutsch, 86, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Chuck was born on Oct. 11, 1924, in Virgil, Ill., to George and Jeannette Deutsch. He served in the Navy during World War II. Chuck was united in marriage on April 3, 1948, to Louise Claire Modaff. He was a member of the American Legion Post 300 and Leon Richardt VFW Post 8194 both of West Chicago and volunteer West Chicago Fireman. He worked for many years with Harry W. Kuhn and Belding Engineering Co and also bartended at the American Legion Post 300. Chuck is survived by seven children, Chuck (Anne MacDonald) Deutsch II of West Chicago, Kathy (Paul) Slamar of Barrington, Ill., Tom (Kim Dirr) Deutsch of Arizona, Pat (Dan) Darimont of Aurora, Don (Kami Schmitt) Deutsch of West Chicago, Debbie (Greg) Frommert of West Chicago and Terri (Rick) Kwasniewski of Franklin, Wis.; 14 grandchildren, Chuck (Cathy) Deutsch III, Janet (Gary Brazeau) Deutsch, Chris Slamar, Bill (Kendra) Deutsch, Beth (Earl) Puckett, Melissa (Zach) Birchfield, Christine Darimont, Nicholas (Meghan) Darimont, Brett (Elizabeth) Deutsch, Sharon (Tim) Barthel, David and Michael Frommert, and Amber and Andrea Kwasniewski; four great-grandchildren, Charles Deutsch IV, Michael Kleist, Izabella Barthel and Hayden Deutsch; one sister, Loretta Sheppard; one brother, Leo Deutsch; loving caregiver, Bernadetta Stasinska; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise in 2006; three grandchildren, Mike Deutsch, Becky Deutsch and Shelli Deutsch; and brother, Harold Deutsch. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, June 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, proceeding to St. Mary's Church, 164 N. Oakwood, West Chicago, for Mass at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
