Wallern im Burgenland
At the time of his birth in Valla, Moson, Hungary, Johann Deutsch was born/baptized as the son of Mathias Deutsch and Anna Unger (from Pamhagen).
The area where he was born became subject to Austria on August 28, 1921, and the village is now referred to as Wallern, Burgenland, Austria; Wallern lies in the district of Neusiedl am See.
Burgenland History: In 1043 a peace treaty between Henry III and King Samuel Aba of Hungary fixed the western border of Hungary along the Leitha and Lafnitz rivers, among others. The territory of the present-day Burgenland remained the western border-zone of Hungary until 1920. The demise of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy occured in 1918 and World War I set the date of Burgenland's official unification with Austria as August 28, 1921.
