Carrie M. Deuell (1934-2007)
WATERLOO - Carrie M. Deuell , 73, of Waterloo, formerly of Shell Rock, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls, of cancer.
She was born Jan. 29, 1934, in Clarksville, daughter of Glenn and Alberta Scoles Avery. She married Donald H. Deuell on July 20, 1950. He died in 1997.
Mrs. Deuell and her husband farmed near Shell Rock and in 1959 moved to a farm southwest of Waverly. In 1964, they moved to a farm southwest of Shell Rock. During the late 1960s through the late 1970s she worked for Patricia's Fabrics in Waverly.
Survivors include a son, Linn of Waterloo; two grandchildren; two sisters, Arris Eckstein of Newhall and Avery (Steve) Clow of Ankeny; a brother, Neil (Barb) Avery of Nebraska; and a brother-in-law, Dean (Liz) Deuell of Allison.
Preceded in death by a son, Lee; and a brother, Darrel Avery.
Services 11 a.m. Saturday at Methodist Church, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, both in Shell Rock. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Shell Rock, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to Covenant Dialysis Unit, Cedar Valley Hospice-Waterloo, or to Waterloo Cancer Treatment Center.
