Bette died surrounded by her family, at her daughter's home. She was born on July 14, 1935, in Portage, to Beatrice (Laing) Gardner and Gerald "Ole" Gardner.
She married Dale A. Detert on Sept. 26, 1964, in Montello.
She was active in Special Olympics with her daughter, Dana, and was an avid "Red Hatter" in recent years. She enjoyed the companionship of her black poodles.
Bette's three grandchildren were her pride and joy, and brought her great pleasure. Bette is survived by her husband, two daughters, three granddaughters, a sister, a brother, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Beatrice Gardner; a brother, John Gardner; and brother-in-law, Alan Keith.
