Dorothy Rosina Broxterman, 79, Axtell, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born March 12, 1922, in Seneca, to Henry F. and Cora R. Stueve Deters. She attended West Point School and graduated from St. Michael's Catholic High School in Axtell in 1940.

She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell, the church guild, the auxiliary to Post No. 214 of the American Legion and the Stitch and Chatter Club in Axtell.

She married Oscar "Woody" Walrod on June 5, 1943. He was killed in action Aug. 2, 1944, during World War II. She married C.W. Broxterman on Aug. 7, 1947. They lived in Baileyville and then in Seneca from 1964 until 1968 when they moved to Axtell. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include six sons, Joseph Walrod, Kansas City, Mo., Russell Broxterman, Auburn, Vaughn Broxterman, Sabetha, Randy Broxterman, Rialto, Calif., Rex Broxterman, Paola, and Terry Broxterman, Axtell; and four daughters, Marlene Veltman, Topeka, Barbara Breese, Rialto, Calif., Diane Tate, Axtell, and Jane Musil, Kearney, Neb.

Also surviving are five brothers, Donald Deters and Charles Deters, both in Topeka, John Deters, Colorado Springs, Frank Deters, Gardner, and Bill Deters, Hodgesville, W.Va.; five sisters, Anna Marie Bishop, Axtell, Kathleen Miller, Edgerton, Mo., Betty Miller, LaCygne, Margie Bergman, Mulvane, and Mary Quaney, Burlingame; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Baileyville.
