Gary W. Dershem
Gary W. Dershem, 57, of 45 Walnut Road, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in the Evangelical Community Hospital emergency room, Lewisburg, after being stricken at home.
He was born July 30, 1952, in Lewisburg, a son of Dorothy "Dottie" (Everitt) Dershem, of Lewisburg, and the late Jack L. Dershem. On June 12, 1976, he married the former Susan A. Remer, who died on Nov. 8, 1986, after 10 years of marriage. On Feb. 21, he married the former Joan P. Introcaso, who survives.
Gary was a 1970 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School and a 1972 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College, where he studied industrial engineering.
He was employed at ACF Industries, Milton, as a materials superintendent and retired in September after 36 years of service.
Gary was a member of Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, as well as Charity Lodge 144, Free & Accepted Masons, Lewisburg, and the Williamsport Consistory. He also was a member of the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps, Hawthorne, N.J.
Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two stepsons, Samuel Wilson, of Pittsburgh, and Jack Wilson, of Williamsport; one brother and sister-in-law, Brian R. and Mindy Dershem, of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Jacqueline L. and Tim Goff, of Lewisburg, and Jil M. Dershem and her companion, Brian Zeigler, of Enola; four nephews; one niece; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, followed by the funeral at 1 with his pastor, the Rev. William S. Henderson, officiating.
Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.
The family is being assisted by the Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
