Albert M. Derrick, 71, of Dallas died Oct. 10 after a courageous 13-year battle with cancer.
He was born in McMinnville to Allie and Ilena Derrick.
Albert grew up in Sandlake and spent his teenage years in Mill City. He worked in the logging industry and odd jobs for years before getting his dream job working for the Polk County Road Department. He retired in 1998 after being diagnosed with leukemia. He was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2007.
Albert married Sue Daniels Cox on March 6, 1969.
He attended The Highway Tabernacle Pentecostal Church of God in Dallas, where he enjoyed playing music and singing for the Lord. Albert enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Derrick of Dallas; children, Randy Cox, Darla (Tom) Gallagher and Tera (Robert) Lewis, all of Dallas, Rick (Robin) Derrick of Mill City, Roxann (Charles) Rice and Robert Derrick, all of Magalia, Calif., and Gayla Cox of Winton, Calif.; siblings, Viola (Ron) Umphress and Nancy Arndt, all of Dallas, John (Linda) Derrick of Caldwell, Idaho, and Virgil (Karen) Derrick of Linn, Wash.; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Interment will follow in the Dallas Cemetery.
