Daughter of Memory Prince Dermid and Sarah Eliza Featherstone. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Edward Buncombe Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Esther Chapter of the Eastern Star, and the Women's Christian Temperance Union- a leader in the cultural and charitable movements of her time. Born in England, her husband, William Albert Bunn, was a brickmaker and owned his own brickmaking and brickwork business. She had a private school which she ran for many years. There were three children by this marriage:
