Elsie D Childs, 85 of 32 Smith Street, Seymour, widow of Harold Childs, died Friday at Griffin Hospital after a short illness.

Born in Ansonia, Dec. 1, 1903, daughter of the later George and Eva ( Shaw ) Derbyshire, she was a lifelong resident of Seymour.

She was a bookkeeper at the former Hull Dye Co. of Derby for 10 years, and was a clerk for TEAM Inc. of Derby for 5 years, until her retirement in March, 1988.

She was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church, the Ellswood Rebecca Lodge of Ansonia, the Naugatuck Grange, and the Valley Golden Agers of Seymour.

Survivors are 1 daughter, 2 sisters 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
