Abraham Morris Deputy is the son of Abraham Deputy. Abraham's parents died when he was very young. I don't have the date of his mother's death but his father died in Feb 1830 which leaves Abraham being 18 months old without parents. He is mentioned in the Delaware Orphan Court indexes along with his siblings.
On 23 Dec 1848 he married Elizabeth Deputy in Sussex County, Delaware.
Abraham died from stab wounds on 11 Oct 1874 in South Milford, Lagrange County, Indiana. The man who stabbed him, Thomas Vines, was arrested and charged with Abraham's murder. He was eventually found not guilty (my assumption is that it was considered self defense but that is not confirmed).
After my photo request, I was informed by Barbara Wolf (thank you, Barbara) that this cemetery does not have any record of Abraham being buried here. I will continue to look for his burial location. In the meantime, I will leave this memorial.
