Doris Deppe, 71, of Oskaloosa, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Hospice Comfort House in Pella. She was born December 21, 1933, in Iowa City, the daughter of Eddie and Bessie Morris Grimm. She graduated from the Newton High School with the class of 1951. Following high school, she worked at Maytag in Newton for 9 years. On June 4, 1960, she was united in marriage to Dale Deppe in Unionville, Missouri. She drove a school bus for the Oskaloosa Community Schools for 14 years. In 1984, they moved to California and she worked for Wal-Mart. In 1997 the family moved back to Iowa, first to Kellogg and in 2003 they moved to Oskaloosa. Doris was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Deppe of Oskaloosa; 4 sons: Allan (& Barbara) Darrah in Arizona, Louis (& Kim) Deppe of Orange Park, Florida, Kevin (& Donna) Deppe of Prole, Iowa, and Scott Deppe of Oskaloosa; 3 daughters: Denise (& Rick) Vande Stroet of Oskaloosa, Dorsha (& Dennis) Moyer of Oskaloosa, and Desiree (& Gary) Denno of University Park; 22 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Una Walsh of Cedar Rapids, Zelma Harl of Kellogg, and Donna Albee of Newton.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grand daughter: Megan Douglas; a grandson in infancy; 2 brothers: Alford and Albert Grimm; a sister: Jean Nichols; and a daughter in law: Kelly Deppe.

Funeral services for Doris Deppe will be held on Monday, March 7, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. in the St James Episcopal Church in Oskaloosa with the Reverend's Cathleen Bascom and Larry Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin Sunday after 10 a.m. and the family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2 4 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Pella Hospice Comfort House.
