Death: Sep. 19, 1910

Daughter of William Howard and Julia Ann (Prather) Burdette. She was raised in Cleburne County AL where she married Thomas Jackson Denson on December 28, 1878. Shortly thereafter, she and her husband moved to Winston County AL where she was a schoolteacher. She also taught piano and the accordion and assisted her husband and brother, James Alexander Burdette, in teaching Sacred Harp (fa-sol-la) music. This union produced eight children: Paine Denson, Anna "Annie" Eugenia (Denson) Aaron, Margaret "Maggie" Francis (Denson) Cagle, Jarusha "Ruth" Henrietta (Denson) Edwards, Howard Burdette Denson, and three children who died as infants. Her children, Paine, Anna, Jarusha, and Howard are also buried at Fairview Cemetery in Double Springs AL where she and her husband are interred; her daughter Margaret is buried at Live Oak Cemetery in Selma AL. All of Thomas and Amanda Denson's children were actively involved in singing and writing Sacred Harp music. Amanda was also the sister of Sidney Seward (Burdette) Denson, who was married to Seaborn McDaniel Denson, Thomas Denson's older brother.

Rest in peace. My maternal grandfather (Seaborn I. Denson) was your nephew.
