Bruce Deniston, 57, of Perrysburg, OH and formerly of Defiance, Ohio, died on Friday, February 2, 2001, in St. Luke's Hospital. He was born on October 20, 1943, in Rome, NY to Dean and Margaret (Davey) Deniston. Bruce was a vocal music teacher for many years. He taught in the Appleton, Wisconsin, Ayersville, OH and Defiance, OH School Districts for 25 years retiring in 1993. Bruce attended Lake High School and graduated from the Defiance College, where he also taught music and received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin. In addition to teaching music, he served as church organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church and Zion's Lutheran Church, both in Defiance, OH. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Toledo, OH where he was organist for the past seven years.
Bruce gave private piano and vocal lessons for several years and was past Board member and state adjudicator for N.M.E.A. He also was a member of the Defiance Elks Club #147.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Patricia L.; children, Randy S. (Kris) of Defiance, OH and Michelle K. (Matthew) Yoder of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Neal L. (Marsha) of Defiance, OH and Alun D. (Carol) of Perrysburg, OH; father, Dean T. of Northwood, OH, and grandchild, Chelsea M. Deniston of Defiance, OH. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, in 1994.
Friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel, 440 S. Coy Road at Starr Ave. Oregon, Ohio, on Monday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mark Lutheran Church, Woodville and Elmore Sts. Toledo, OH. Interment will be in Lake Township Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy should consider the Bruce Deniston Music Memorial Fund of St. Mark Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
