A funeral for Helen M. Dempsey of Northeast Portland, a retired supervisor for the food services division of the David Douglas School District, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes.
Mrs. Dempsey died Thursday in a Portland hospital of complications from a stroke. She was 82.
She was born Aug. 12, 1908, in Dallas, Ore. She had lived in Portland since 1923 and attended Commerce High School, now Cleveland. She married Frank C. Dempsey on May 24, 1928.
Mrs. Dempsey worked for the David Douglas School District for more than 30 years until her retirement in 1970. She previously had worked for Russellville School.
Survivors other than her husband include her sons, Fred of Portland and Jack R. of Yamhill; daughter, Joan Schilling of Portland; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Skyline Memorial Gardens.
