Graveside service for Evelyn B. Dement of Decatur was to be today at 1 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Brooks Barkely officiating and Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Dement died Monday, December 16, 1996, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born in Decatur to Fred and Ora Smith Blankenship. She was a homemaker and attended Southside Baptist Church for about 60 years. She was the widow of Louie Garnett Dement.
She is survived by two sons, Lewis Dement of Decatur and Byron Dement of Birmingham; one daughter, Kay Tucker of Birmingham; one sister, Vera Bolton of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church.
