Mrs. Eva Delk Batten, 81, died at her home near Smithfield early Thursday morning after a long illness. A life-long resident of Isle of Wight County, she was a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church, and the widow of Samuel E. Batten.
She is survived by one daughter, Miss Mary Virginia Batten of Smithfield; two sons, Samuel E. Batten, Jr., of Richmond, and St. Elmo Batten of Smithfield; four sisters, Mrs. J. N. Stringfield, Mrs. B.O. Gwaltney and Mrs. John Little, all of Smithfield, and Mrs J. S. Norsworthy of Ottawa, IL; two brothers, T.H. and M.H. Delk, both of Smithfield; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
