Martha A. DELAY CADE was born January 6, 1844; was married to James C. CADE February 19, 1863. To this union was born five children—one dying in infancy and Manly, in early manhood. She united with the Bethel Church in February 1883. Died June 1, 1908, aged sixty-four years, four months and twenty-five days.
Some time before her death she made a request that Uncle Billy BAKER should preach her funeral from the following text, “Be Ye Also Ready.” During her suffering and long confinement to her room her faith never wavered; the end came peacefully and she quietly feel asleep in Jesus.
She was a loving wife and a true mother. She was also greatly devoted to her grandchildren, of which there are seven. She leaves a husband, one brother and one sister. She was a kind neighbor and her death has brought great sadness to the community and she will be greatly missed, most of all, by her faithful husband and children, who cared for her so tenderly. The church has lost a jewel member. Our sister has left us a rich legacy of love and faith in God and her example invites us all to larger things for Him, who died to save us all.
