Somehow, things won't be the same out at the Western Heights Baptist Church any more.
Sunday night, Mrs. Eva E. Chenowth died at her home at 1223 Flanders. For 50 years she had been active in the work of the Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Western Heights Church.
Aside from her family, that church was her one great interest.
Member of an old Dallas County family, Mrs. Chenowth was born at Grapevine in 1861 in the first year of Texas' membership in the Southern Confederacy. She married N. O. Chenowth and in 1890 moved to Dallas, settling in the Western Heights area.
Mr. Chenowth with his brothers, Jeff and S. C., engaged in the grain business in Dallas.
In recent years children and old friends of the family helped Mrs. Chenowth plan the November 26 birthday parties to which she looked forward annually.
Surviving are a son, E. B. Chenowith of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. J. M. Dunlap of Dallas, Mrs. W. L. Wilmeth of Washington, and Mrs. F. T. Horner of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sisters, Miss Lanora Deen and Miss Clara Deen of Dallas, and Mrs. B. L. Crist of Floridatown, Fla.; two brothers, R. L. Deen and C. J. Deen; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral will be held at the residence at 4 p. m. Wednesday by the Rev. Buell Crouch of the Western Heights Baptist Church and the Rev. L. G. Haggard of the Kessler Park Methodist Church. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Cemetery.
